When families at McMeen Elementary began facing increasing challenges—from food insecurity to rising housing costs—the school stepped up. In response to growing need within its community, McMeen launched the McMeen Food Market, a weekly, school-based resource designed to ensure that students and their families have reliable access to food and basic necessities. What began as a targeted effort to support the most vulnerable has quickly become a vital lifeline for many.

While walking to the school bus, Nicholas Kruse was hit by a car driving onto the sidewalk on Colorado Ave. The car clipped his thigh and launched him forward. He finished with his head hitting the ground. As a result, the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) and the Denver Police Department (DPD) are working together to increase safety measures in the Cook Park neighborhood.
